RULES GOVERNING WORKING CONDITIONS
A Company with 10 employees or more is required to prepare and
file its Rules Governing Working Conditions with the local office of
the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare. These Rules must cover
the following items:
- Working days, holidays (traditional and annual vacation), and
overtime;
- Date and place of payments of remuneration;
- Leave of absence, discipline and appeals procedure;
- Termination of employment.
After the Rules have been approved by the Ministry of Labour, the
Company must publicly display them for the notice of all its
employees. The Rules can be subsequently amended but such amendment
must be better for the employees than the original rules.
SOCIAL SECURITY AND COMPENSATION FUND
A Company with 1 employee or more must register for the
Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare's compulsory social security
and employee compensation funds. Social security payments must be
paid monthly by deduction from all employees' salaries with an equal
amount paid by the Company. Payment must be made by the 15th of the
following month.
